Irish Creme Microwave Fudge

Source: Better Homes and Gardens

1 small (about 5 ounce) potato
3 tablespoons Irish Cr�me liqueur
2 (2 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 pound (3 1/4 cup) confectioners' sugar, unsifted
36 walnut halves
Designer Icing

Line an 8-inch square pan with foil, extending foil over the edges of the pan. Butter foil; set pan aside.

Prick potato 2 or 3 times with a fork. Microwave on 100% power for 4 to 5 minutes, turning once. Cool and peel.

Mash potato (you should have 1/3 cup). Stir in liqueur and mix until smooth. Set aside.

In a 2-quart microwave-safe dish, cook chocolate and butter on HIGH for 1 to 2 minutes or until almost melted, stirring once. Stir until smooth. Mix in potato mixture; slowly add confectioners' sugar. Stir or knead until smooth. Press into pan. Score into thirty-six 1 1/4 inch squares. Press one walnut half into each square. Chill. Remove from pan; cut into squares. Drizzle with icing.

Designer Icing
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons Irish Cr�me liqueur

In small microwave safe bowl, cook butter on HIGH for 45 to 60 seconds or until melted. Beat in confectioners' sugar and enough Irish Cr�me liqueur to make of piping or drizzling consistency.

Riverdance--The Show is a cultural phenomenon that defies criticism for the enthusiastic and leaves everyone else scratching their heads. The wonderfully talented cast, headed by the Riverdance Irish Dance Company, bewitchingly spins (and stomps) its Celtic folk choreography featuring numerous breathless solos by Michael Flatley (since departed) and Jean Butler. The mellifluous Riverdance Orchestra boasts Davy Spillane, who coaxes plaintive lamentations out of a peculiar instrument that resembles a bagpipe in a metal leg brace. For Enya fans, there is the sound-alike choral group Anuna, who casts a similarly New Age-style vocal spell. Also thrown into the mix are such disparate folk traditions as American gospel and Spanish flamenco. Though it's only 70 minutes long, Riverdance is repetitive by half. But judging from the ecstatic audience ovations and the continued foot-stomping during and after the curtain calls, too much is still not enough. --Richard Natale

Luck, produced by the Disney Channel, not only has bright young actors on its side, it's also studded with moments of goofball funniness. Launch Speak Hebrew! and immediately find yourself stepping off the plane in Israel, opening your virtual map to discover the sights and sounds of Jerusalem. Audio, visual, and phonetic tools make it easy to pick up basic Hebrew conversational skills in no time, while an easy-to-use interface makes navigating through this program a breeze.

Once we installed Speak Hebrew!, it took about five minutes to get the program up and running. Users are given two initial options--travel or music. While the music option won't do much for your Hebrew skills (you can either listen to a recorder or to psalms), it is interesting to see well-known prayers translated into Hebrew onscreen.

However, the real meat of the program lies in the travel section. This is where you can travel to the Western Wall, buy groceries at the local market, visit an Israeli family's house, and even fill your prescription for antibiotics at the local pharmacy. Users choose whether they wish to "play" as a male or female, as Hebrew makes grammatical distinctions between the two genders. You can also choose to either play or observe. If you observe, you are given the aid of subtitles, which feature written phonetic and Hebrew translations and English translations. If you play, you will participate in the conversation without subtitles, and focus on listening rather than reading comprehension. If you wish to repeat a sentence, simply hit the R key in the main menu and you can listen to a dialogue again.
