Nuts and Bolts
2 pounds salted nuts and cashews
1 box Wheat Chex
1 box Rice or Corn Chex
1 box Cheerios (or your choice)
1 bag pretzel sticks
2 cups vegetable oil
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
Mix nuts, cereals and pretzels and divide between 2 large foil turkey roasting pans. Mix oil, sauce and salts together. Pour 1/2 in each pan over the nuts, cereals and pretzels. Bake for 2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool on paper towels. When cooled, store in airtight containers.

How clichéd--make that calcified--has the concept of "irony" become in alternative music? Katherine Whalen's vocal turns are as convincingly smoky as the lighthearted material is jokey--an inviting balance that's equally true to its historical sources. More than mere opportunistic swing revivalists, the restless curiosity displayed on this album argues that the Zippers are in it for the long haul. "Three Arabian Nuts" (1951, short number 129 in the Columbia series) offers a fairly rare element of the supernatural. While the boys are working on a shipment of mostly breakable (and therefore broken) goods from the East for a client (Vernon Dent), Shemp runs across a magic lamp with a real "genius" that grants him his wish of flashy clothing, a gift immediately unwished by a jealous Larry. A good deal of the footage is concerned with two angry Arabs trying to decapitate the infidels. For once, all ends well with the boys getting their wishes fulfilled and Dent (who had given away the lamp) being given a rare chance to stooge an ending all by himself.
"Sing a Song of Sixpence" (1947, number 102) has the boys operating a tailor shop in which a criminal on the lam hides and poses as a tailor's dummy while they strip him down to make a sale. There is the usual series of gags with the cleaning and pressing equipment, including the ray of sunlight on a garment that is mistaken for a spot.
"All Gummed Up" (1947, number 103) will show up again almost in its entirety as "Bubble Trouble" in 1953. Here beautiful Christine McIntyre gets a chance to be really comic as she plays an old wife transformed into a young one, while Emil Sitka does a great turn as her inconsiderate, doddering husband. The mixing of the "youth potion" involves the usual Three Stooges doubletalk but done well in this context. The last fourth of this film should be compared with that of the remake, which is also available in the Columbia collection, titled "Listen, Judge." --Frank Behrens

This Makita drill also has the most advanced charging system available and it charges in only 15 minutes! Generically, it's called a "smart charging system." A computer chip inside the battery lets the charger know exactly how to optimally charge the battery, to completely charge each cell within the battery and for maximum battery life. Each battery is made up of smaller 1.2 volt cells. Often a battery will drain unevenly during normal use, at different rates within these internal cells. A normal charger will stop charging the battery when one cell reaches maximum capacity, not all of them. Once this happens once, it will continue to do so as long as you use the battery. What this means is your 18-volt battery is now a 16- or 17-volt battery and it can drop even lower. A "smart charger" will charge every cell independently until each cell is fully charged, so your 18-volt battery will remain 18 volts for its entire life. This charger has a fan in it and blows air through the battery to cool it down before charging so the battery can be charged right away, unlike other brands, where the charger waits until the battery cools, or even worse attempts to charge a hot battery pack and damages it or decreases the life of the battery.
