Crawfish Chili

16 servings
2 pounds lean ground beef
2 pounds crawfish tails
1 teaspoon garlic, chopped fine
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon dried mint
1 tablespoon dried parsley
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup dry white wine
Water
1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice
1 cup chopped onions
Bacon drippings
Brown meat in bacon drippings.
Combine all other ingredients with meat and bring to a boil. Simmer for a few hours.

This film is not a history lesson - although the viewer is treated to the official definition of the word Cajun and a bit about the Acadian people forced to flee their homes in Nova Scotia due to English tyranny. It is a glimpse into the lives of real people with real families, living in real communities in a state that has become increasingly stereotyped and commercialized.
We are introduced to the vast array of Cajun crafts, including brown cotton spinning and indigo dyeing and the forging of steel tools used in the construction of many of these people's ancestral homes. We get a feel for the music that makes up these people's lives - Celtic and blues influenced Cajun tunes, traditional blues, and even rock and country infused Zydeco. We see real festivals (though the occasional fanny-packing tourist makes their appearance since it is hard to film any festival in this state and not catch a glimpse of a least one) with real dancing, cooking, eating, dancing, eating, and more dancing.
The music seems to be the focal point here and it used to full advantage.
The film is a whirlwind of emotion and energy and will have you Toe-tapping all the way to Breaux Bridge and beyond.

Sometimes fate works in mysterious ways. It's not always kind; it's not always gentle. Many times it's an ice water wake up call, but once in a while it does something... miraculous. Yes, fate works in mysterious ways; Ryan and McKenna are glad that, in this case, it just worked at all.
Another Fine Undefined Life, is a heartfelt mix of first-hand experience and vicarious influence. Sometimes tender, sometimes bold, sometimes angry, sometimes sweet, but always relatable, the songs reflect a wide gamut of human emotion, and although a song may have arisen from a single event unique to that person, youre left with a feeling of familiarity, of camaraderie with this kindred soul. What it boils down to is a musical melting pot of some of lifes more profound highs and lows, of turning points and reality checks, near-misses and blindsides. Because it's easy for Disney to rest on the considerable appeal oftheir characters, their video games are often not up to snuff. Happily,Peter Pan: Return to Never Land is one of the better third-party games released for the GBA. It doesn't bring much new to the tried-and-true platform game genre, but it does well with crisp, bright graphics, smart level design, and a pleasing soundtrack from the movie's catchy original songs.
Though this game is based on a sequel, most gamers will immediately recognize the first couple of levels from the classic 1953 film. The game starts with a visit to now-grown-up Wendy's house to take her kids on their own adventure to Never Land. Once there, Tinker Bell is kidnapped, so you've got to rescue her and all of the Lost Boys spread throughout levels in the game. As on any other platformer, you must run, jump, and dispatch baddies (Peter does this with his trusty dagger, which he can also throw) to get to whereyou're going, buthere you can also fly--provided you have Tink and enough pixie dust by your side. The power-ups and secret items are plentiful and pretty easy to find, which seems to be the right difficulty approach, given the younger audience of this game. Older kids and adults may want to play the game at the harder difficulty setting in the options menu. There are also clips of the movie that can be unlocked by finding hidden film reels, but these are short and rather bland.
The downside of this title is still very common among portable games: no battery save feature. Rather than saving your progress through the game, players are given jumbled strings of letters to mark their completion of the end of a level. It's not a dealbreaker, but it means players will need pen and paper handy if they want to continue. And there's no way to save midlevel.--Porter B. Hall
