Jean Stapleton's Lobster Quiche
1 package prepared pie crust mix
6 frozen South African rock lobster
tails (each weighing 2 ounces)
Boiling salted water
1 cup (4 ounce) grated Swiss or Gruyere cheese
1 tablespoon minced white onion
1 tablespoon butter
4 eggs, well-beaten
2 cups half-and-half or light cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Prepare pie crust according to package directions. Roll out on lightly floured board. Make large enough to line bottom and sides of an ungreased 9-inch pie pan. Press pastry lightly against pan sides, allowing about 1/2-inch overhand. Flute edge. Prick with fork. Partially bake in preheated 400 degree F oven about 8 minutes.
Drop frozen rock-lobster tails into boiling, salted water. When water re-boils, boil for 2 minutes. Drain in colander; drench immediately with cold water. Remove underside membrane with scissors or poultry shears and pull out meat in one piece. Slice meat crosswise. Reserve 6 halves sliced lengthwise for garnish. Place remaining meat in bottom of partially baked pie shell. Sprinkle cheese over meat.
Saut� onion in butter until golden; reserve.
Beat together eggs, half-and-half, salt, white pepper, nutmeg and cooked onion. Pour over lobster and cheese in pie shell. Bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Garnish with rock-lobster slices to form a star design.
Serve warm or at room temperature.

Seemingly taking its lead from Bridget Jones's Diary and its sequel (both of which Curtis also wrote), Love's rich, eclectic collection of pop songs becomes something more than mere movie-soundtrack wallpaper. Indeed, tracks as disparate as Joni Mitchell's hauntingly autumnal remake of "Both Sides Now" and the Pointer Sisters' effusive '80s hit "Jump" function somewhere between supporting player and narrative Greek chorus. It's a mature, often introspective collection that mixes the expected chestnuts (the Beach Boys' evergreen "God Only Knows") and covers (Eva Cassidy's stately version of Christine McVie's "Songbird," an R&B-infused take of "All You Need Is Love" by Lynden David Hall) with standout work from Norah Jones (a torched-up "Turn Me On"), Texas (the Dusty Springfield-esque dramatics of "I'll See It Through"), and Wyclef Jean's joyous "Take Me As I Am." Riverdance--The Show is a cultural phenomenon that defies criticism for the enthusiastic and leaves everyone else scratching their heads. The wonderfully talented cast, headed by the Riverdance Irish Dance Company, bewitchingly spins (and stomps) its Celtic folk choreography featuring numerous breathless solos by Michael Flatley (since departed) and Jean Butler. The mellifluous Riverdance Orchestra boasts Davy Spillane, who coaxes plaintive lamentations out of a peculiar instrument that resembles a bagpipe in a metal leg brace. For Enya fans, there is the sound-alike choral group Anuna, who casts a similarly New Age-style vocal spell. Also thrown into the mix are such disparate folk traditions as American gospel and Spanish flamenco. Though it's only 70 minutes long, Riverdance is repetitive by half. But judging from the ecstatic audience ovations and the continued foot-stomping during and after the curtain calls, too much is still not enough. --Richard Natale

Before that happens, however, Scarlett fights to win back the estranged Rhett Butler (manfully portrayed by Timothy Dalton), often seen in the company of other women, struggles for control over the homestead Tara, and gets caught in yet another compromising position with poor Ashley Wilkes (Stephen Collins). The troubles never stop (Scarlett's Ireland adventures land her in a heap of trouble from which only Rhett can save her), but this TV miniseries wisely keeps the focus on these captivating characters, their entangled histories, and the collective destiny that refuses to part them. The show also looks good: the location scenes in Ireland are particularly handsome, and there is something unaccountably satisfying about seeing Scarlett and Rhett walking through peaceful green hills.
