Hungry Jack Casserole
1 pound ground beef
1 can biscuits
1 can baked beans
3/4 cup barbecue sauce
2/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Brown ground beef and drain. Mix ground beef, baked beans, and barbecue sauce together and put in casserole dish. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Cut each biscuit in half and place each biscuit on top of casserole all the way around. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and biscuits are lightly browned.
Can be cooked on low all day in crockpot (omit the biscuits).

Five years after their last album, and 18 months since their seemingly final gig, who would have thought we'd be gifted with a new Tindersticks album at all, let alone one that stands out as their best since their first two albums? Their lineup may be depleted, but make no mistake--from the first haunting notes of "Introduction" to the last soulful moments of "The Turns We Took"--The Hungry Saw is as good as it gets. The traditional Tindersticks sound—part smoky heartbreak, part sinister minor-key noir malevolence--is present and correct, and far more focussed, resulting in an early contender for the best album of 2008. Hardcore fans may lament the missing elements, particularly departed violin/second vocalist/arranger Dickon Hinchliffe, but the strength of the tracks, and the sheer thrill of hearing Stuart Staples' sleepy Cohen-esque croon tackle such gems as the title track, the gently mournful "All the Love", or the sinister "Mother Dear" prove that the band are as good as they ever were. The key moment is "Boobar, Come Back to Me"--as affecting and epic as anything they've done, and a good sign that Tindersticks still have a fruitful few albums in them yet. --Thom Allott

Based on the video game, Fatal Fury is widely regarded as one of the best kung fu anime features. The good guys are Terry "Hungry Wolf" Bogard and his brother, Andy; Thai kickboxer Joe Higashi; and the curvaceous ninja Mai. With their masses of spiky blond hair, narrow blue eyes, and sharp features, the Bogard brothers almost cross over into the "beautiful boy" genre, but they and Joe are muscled like dinosaurs. Mai, who has a crush on Andy, provides both humor and jiggle interest in a succession of minuscule outfits. The heroes are pitted against an assortment of equally buffed-out Bad Guys, led by Laocorn, a descendant of the ancient clan of Gaudeamus, who is seeking to obtain "the armor of Vulcan." A relic going back to the time of Alexander the Great, the armor transforms anyone who wears all seven pieces of it into a god. But Laocorn's twin sister, Sulia, knows it will also make the wearer hopelessly evil: she enlists the Bogards and their friends to prevent her brother from acquiring the scattered pieces. Director Masami Obari uses all the standard tricks for the bone-crunching martial arts battles--blurs, streaks, slow-motion images of blows landing on skulls, camera spins, flashes of lighting, flames, and, of course, gobs of blood. Fatal Fury feels like a cross between an Indiana Jones film and a WWE tag-team match, and is sure to delight adolescent boys. (Rated 13 Up) --Charles Solomon

Quirky is the keyword here--but quirky in a highly entertaining way. Directed by Bob Rafelson, this film stars Jeff Bridges as a not-so-good ol' boy. Wealthy and aimless, he is involved in a real estate deal with a group of high-powered partners--and his only responsibility in the whole shebang is to evict the tenants of one building that needs to be torn down and has a gym filled with body builders. Disconnected from everything in his life, he feels a bond to these outsiders, particularly the surprisingly articulate, fiddle-playing Arnold Schwarzenegger (in one of his first film roles). He also finds himself attracted to the blue-collar gym employee played by Sally Field and so becomes an impediment to his own business partners. Oddly funny and affecting, a sleeper that never had much of a release. --Marshall Fine
