Tunnel of Fudge Cake
This is the bona fide Pillsbury recipe.
Cake
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups butter or margarine
6 eggs
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 1/4 cups Pillsbury’s Best® All-Purpose Flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 cups chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt or 10-inch tube pan.
In a large bowl, combine sugar and butter or margarine; beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add 2 cups confectioners' sugar; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. By hand, stir in flour and remaining ingredients until well blended. Spoon batter into greased and floured pan; spread evenly. Bake for 58 to 62 minutes. Cool upright in pan on wire rack for 1 hour; invert onto serving plate. Cool completely.
Glaze
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons milk
In a small bowl, blend 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, and enough milk for desired drizzling consistency. Spoon over top of cake, allowing some to run down sides. Store tightly covered.

Home video is our own little time tunnel, instantly transporting us back to dimly-remembered TV shows of our youth. The only thing more fun than re-encountering a show one hasn't thought about in years is the happy discovery that it holds up relatively well. In The Time Tunnel, James Darrin and Robert Colbert star as intrepid scientists Tony Newman and Doug Phillips, who are studying the feasibility of time travel ("potentially the most valuable treasure the world will ever find") as part of the top secret Project Tic Toc. The government, though, considers it a billion-dollar boondoggle and threatens to shut it down. Tony impetuously enters the untested Time Tunnel, and, on his inaugural adventure in "Rendezvous with Yesterday," finds himself on a New York-bound ocean liner. It remains one of the great TV moments when a life preserver reveals that he is, in fact, on the Titanic. Doug will join him shortly after, and together they will hurtle backward and forward through time, usually arriving on the eve of some pivotal historic event. Meanwhile, back at Project Tic-Toc, the other scientists (including Lee "Catwoman" Meriwether's Dr. Ann MacGregor) follow their progress and try to bring them home.
This four-double-sided-disc set contains the short-lived series' first 15 episodes, complete with the freeze-frame cliffhangers that found the duo on some "fantastic new adventure." Among the most memorable is "The Day the Sky Fell In," in which Tony and Doug find themselves at Pearl Harbor the day before the Japanese attack, and Tony has a Field of Dreams moment that allows him the opportunity to find out what happened to his father, who stationed there at the time. In "Massacre," Tony and Doug try to head off the battle at Little Big Horn. In "Invasion," the pair land in France in advance of the D-Day invasion, and Doug is captured and brainwashed by the Gestapo. Notable guest stars include Michael Rennie (The Day the Earth Stood Still) as the captain of the Titanic, and Carroll O'Connor as a War of 1812 colonel and his modern-day descendant in "The Last Patrol." Dr. John Sarno caused quite a ruckus back in 1990 when he suggested that back pain is all in the head. In his bestselling book, Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection, he claimed that backaches, slipped discs, headaches, and other chronic pains are due to suppressed anger, and that once the cause of the anger is addressed, the pain will vanish. Relieved Amazon.com readers call this book "liberating" and say "it sounds too good to be true, but it is true." Sarno has returned with The Mindbody Prescription, in which he explains how emotions including guilt, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem can stimulate the brain to manufacture physical symptoms including fibromyalgia, repetitive strain injuries, migraine headaches, hay fever, colitis, ulcers, and even acne. If these psychosomatic problems all sound a little Freudian, what with the repression of emotions in the unconscious, it's because Sarno unapologetically borrows from Freud for the basis of his theory and cites childhood trauma as a major source of emotional problems. He also says that his program is a "talking cure" of sorts, since patients must be convinced their pain is rooted in their emotions before healing can begin.
The book reads a bit like psychology text, with Sarno quoting from psychoanalytic theorists including Heinz Kohut and Graeme Taylor and the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition). Sarno walks through the neurophysiology of mindbody disorders, lists the symptoms of dozens of disorders that he believes are emotion-based, and offers a basic program for overcoming psychosomatic pain and illness. His recovery plan includes meditation and sometimes psychotherapy, including behavior modification, and stopping any medication or physical therapy. While Sarno's ideas seem radical, they were commonly implemented earlier in the 20th century, when psychoanalysis was at its peak of popularity, and they promise to become more accepted in our current era of alternative medical therapies and anger management. --Erica Jorgensen
